A guy walks into a bar… in this case it was the Cameron on a hot July afternoon about three years ago. He sits on the corner stool, orders a Trailhead, and then sits back to watch a performance by two of the best alt country musicians in Canada – Doug Paisley and Bazil Donovan for a crowd of ten people. For free, no line-up, no scalpers.
I pull out my trusty Canon A95, and decide to capture the event for myself, and for those who weren’t there.
Thus was launched the concept of “The View From The Corner Stool.” Toronto is rich with bars that support and present live music. I wanted to capture the performances that sometimes “go missing” and share them with a wider audience, in the hope that the room was a little more full for the artists next performance.
So for the past three years or so I have been capturing performances of musicians both Canadian and International in every Gin Joint in Hogtown in what I hope provides inspiration and incentive.
